Last week I had the absolute privilege of attending the Midwife Within, a collaboration between Emilee Saldaya of @freebirthsociety and Elder Midwife @sistermorningstar. Among the breadth of wisdom shared, Sister offered her teachings on the art of the Village Prenatal. And so, this month’s gathering will be newly inspired by the lineage and transmissions of these profound women, trail blazers of the sovereign midwifery movement.
As usual we will share from our hearts, sing birth songs, enjoy nourishing snacks and tea, craft birth altar affirmation cards, laugh, cry, witness each other and celebrate the wonders of pregnancy.
All women are welcome, inquire for details ✨

Mamababy postpartum connection circle
Join us for our second Mamababy Postpartum Connection Circle 🌀 April 23rd in Bonny Doon!
Since beginning the Village Prenatal circle, 12 babies have been born! In holding the needs of our community it was evident that another circle wanted to be born as well. And so, as mamas become ready to emerge from their postpartum cocoons, we gather.
Due to the nature of being with babies, the circle is very adaptable and freeflowing.
We provide play areas, nap areas, options for bouncing and rocking, bathing, feeding, changing, space holding & witnessing — whatever you need.
One goal we have is to provide connective circle-style sharing to hear everyone’s voice and have a check-in. This is a time to get real and honest with each other, be witnessed in all the feelings and share about the peaks and valleys of early motherhood.
Honoring the multitudes of parenting styles, this will not be a space for giving advice, but rather sharing wisdom via lived experience, and what has worked (or not) for each of us. As always, we own our bias that we do orient towards the @innatetraditions Physiologic Baby Care perspectives.
Mostly we hang out, snack, admire our magical babies, offer nervous system supportive herbs and co-regulate by being present together with loving intention.
Reach out for details and feel free to share with local Santa Cruz mamas 🥰

Join us for our April Village Prenatal circle, one week from today, Friday April 12th 11-3 in Bonny Doon 🌀
Whether you are pregnant, calling in conception , a postpartum mama or a maiden wanting to witness motherhood — all women are welcome.
As always we will have intentional circle time to drop-in together, sharing ideal birth visions, witnessing fears, and anything else that wants to be heard. And this month in particular will have an emphasis on the village - we will gather as mothers, elders, active crawlers, a few 2-4 year olds and several of our mamas who have recently birthed will be present with new babes!
This circle we will talk about honoring our placentas and continue to cultivate the remembrance of palpation as a village skill.
I’m so looking forward to being together, honoring life and all that’s abloom this sweet springtime.

Mamababy postpartum connection circle
Hi Mamas,
Nina and I are so looking forward to gathering with you this Tuesday, March 19th, 11:00 for our Mamababy Postpartum connection circle. Due to the nature of being with babies, the circle will be very unstructured and freeflowing, different from the Village Prenatal.
There will be play areas, nap areas, options for bouncing and rocking, bathing, feeding, diaper changing, space holding & witnessing — whatever you need.
One goal we have is to provide connective circle-style sharing to hear everyone’s voice and have a check-in. This will be a time to get real and honest with each other, be witnessed in all the feelings and share about the peaks and valleys of early motherhood.
Honoring the multitudes of parenting styles, this will not be a space for giving advice, but rather sharing wisdom via lived experience, and what has worked (or not) for each of us. As always, we own our bias that we do orient towards the Innate Traditions and Physiologic Baby Care perspectives.
Mostly we will be hanging out, admiring our magical babies, offering nervous system supportive herbs and co-regulating by being present together with loving intention.
If you are able to, bring a snack to share thought it is not required!
Looking forward to seeing you all! If you have any questions, or need assistance of any kind, please let us know.
*Note that you may not have service on your drive up so load your directions ahead of time. You are welcome to hop on our Wi-Fi upon arrival.*
Love,
Kate

This month’s circle theme will be the Medicine of Touch and Remembering Palpation as a Wise Woman’s Village Skill.
It seems to me that we are living in a culture that is largely starved for loving touch. Within the realms of pregnancy care, loving touch is at an all time low as the industrial obstetrics system defers to machines and the art of palpation dwindles.
In a recent conversation a sister said to me, “Why don’t we all as women know how to palpate each other’s pregnant bellies or to be with each other in birth?” This inquiry is worth the pondering. We are doing the work of remembering.
No power dynamics, no hierarchy, no projection or pathologies… Just curiosity, playfulness, presence, gentle and nurturing loving touch — Sisterhood. Devoted attention to motherbaby connection, celebratory shared awe of the magic and wonderment. This is the vision! I hope you join us. Inquire for details ✨
Beautiful photo from last month’s circle 🌀 and two of these mamas have since birthed! Two perfect baby boys. We love and honor you 🤍

Next Friday we gather 🪷
I’m awe-struck by the magic spun in our January circle. Gratitude to all who joined in co-creating a truly heartening Village Prenatal. Thank you for sharing inspiring visions of your birthing dreams. Thank you for giving voice to your fears. Thank you for choosing to be seen so that we could witness you in reverence.
With nearly 20 women gathered and 10 pregnant we joined as 30 (or more!) hearts beating — the connection we shared was powerful, and it has really carried through this month. I’m so grateful for the medicine of sisterhood.
Through our red thread we welcomed 2 baby girls born wild & free, and celebrate the mamas healing Earth through sovereign birth. Awooooo 🐺✨🌀

Village Prenatal
We closed December’s circle with a red thread ritual devoted to our mama nearest to birthing. Each woman wove thread around her wrist then passed it on, joining us in circle. As we wore our sacred thread we held in heart our mama-to-be. As this Motherbaby danced closer and closer to the birth portal we sent her prayers imbued with heartfelt care.
In the early hours of December 29th, she roared a perfect baby girl Earthside. It was a true honor to witness her raw, primal power, and serve her in the enormity of this sacred transition. Basking in awe, I wrote to the women in our circle news of her birth, and it was time to remove the red thread with intention and loving prayer.
Beyond binding our hearts and wombs in sacred connection, the red thread symbolizes the ancient matriarchal line of women who’ve birthed before us. We call upon the strength and wisdom of our grandmothers as we bring forth generations of new life.
This Friday we gather to honor all stages of gestation, with special celebration of 3 mamas nearing the end of their pregnancies.❤️ All women are welcome. Want to join our red thread ritual? Reach out for details ✨
